Chocolate City mess gets worse

Even as the music
industry is presently
grappling with the
malaise of artists
who quit their record
labels suddenly and
while still under
contract and while
their labels are yet
to recover the massive financial investment on them,
that of Chocolate City has taken a turn for the worse. CC
is one of the most successful record labels in the
country.
MI and Ice Prince are its most successful artists.
Others being primed for similar success included Jesse
Jagz, Nosa, Victoria Kimani and BrymO. A crack in the
wall appeared however when Jagz opted not to renew
his expired contract.
Even as the dust was yet to settle over his exit from the
label that has his senior brother, MI, as its vice
president, BrymO suddenly walked away too. Unlike Jagz
however, BrymO was still under contract, and so the
battle began. CC insisted on him. BrymO said he knows
even Nigeria’s judicial system can’t save him.
With little heard of the matter in the last couple of
weeks, reports surfaced this week that CC’s CEO, Audu
Maikori, had finally spoken and disclosed why Jagz and
BrymO. According to the reports, Maikori said BrymO is
jealous of Ice Prince and that Jagz was acting against
CC’s policies.
In a swift reaction to the report however, CC has
indicated that it is ready to get right down and dirty by
suing all the online media publications allegedly quoting
Maikori on the real reasons for Jagz and BrymO’s CC
exits
